Discipleship means learning and helping others learn what it takes to be a follower of Jesus Christ.  This not a matter of memorizing doctrine or a moral code.  It is about being shaped and formed by the story of God's loving actions in the world and beginning to understand how we fit into that story.

 Sunday School

Sundays @ 11:15 a.m.

Adult Sunday School Classes

We have three adult Sunday School classes.  Each one is designed to meet the needs of adults that are at different places in their spiritual journey and maturity in the Christian life.

Teen Classes

We normally have two teen Sunday School classes, a Jr. High and a Sr. HIgh class. However, these classes have been temporarily combined so that our Pastor can spend some time with all the teens and teach both classes.  The teens are currently working their way through the Gospel of Mark.

Children's Classes

There are many children's classes for all different age groups.  Each of these classes seeks to tell the Biblical story in a way that is appropriate for the age group in that class.

Teen and Children's Bible Quizzing

Bible quizzing utilizes the excitement of competition to help kids and teens learn Scripture.  It is also an excellent opportunity for meeting new friends.  This year the children are studying the book of Genesis on Wednesday nights at 7 p.m..  The teens are studying Paul's letters to the Galatians, Ephesians, Phillipians, Colossians, and Philemon on Sunday nights at 4:30 - 6 p.m.

 Nazarene Higher Education

In addition to the discipleship that takes place in the local church, the Church of the Nazarene also has eight liberal arts colleges, a Bible college, and a seminary located throughout the country.  Our congregation has a particularly close connection to Olivet Nazarene University since it is located just a few hours away in Kankakee, IL.

 Sunday Evening Conversations

Sundays @ 6 p.m.

Our Sunday evening service is less formal and more conversational than our morning worship service.  After joining together in song, we dialolgue together about important topics in the Christian faith.  We are currently working through a series entitled "What is salvation?" in which we are taking a closer look at the many biblical metaphors for what God has done for us in Jesus Christ.  You can dowload the PowerPoint presentations from our past Sunday Evening Conversations at the links below.

Here is what one of our faithful Sunday night attenders has said about her experience on Sunday nights:

" I have enjoyed the Sunday night discussion classes that Pastor Dave has been leading us in.  My heart and mind has been touched by the new things we have learned.  I thank the Lord that we never get too old to learn more about what God says to us through His Word.  The subject we are discussing now is Spiritual Disclipines and it really has helped me to think about what really should come first in my life.  I feel I have listened, learned and now am practicing what God has taught me."
